Many people always find it difficult to navigate their way through the airport, especially if it’s their first flight. A lot of things can go wrong if you don’t know how to navigate the airport like a pro. It can cause you unnecessary delay, which can eventually cause you to miss your flight. 1. Get your plane ticket in advance

One of the ways you can ensure that you have a smooth trip devoid of any form of delay at the airport is by getting a plane ticket in advance. You can either purchase it online or through your airline. Doing this means you no longer have to spend extra time trying to get the ticket at the airport. 

2. Get to the airport 3 hours before the scheduled time for your flight departure 

Sometimes you might encounter some delays when you get to the airport. This could be during checking in or at security at the airport. Especially if it’s your first time traveling, we advise that you arrive at the airport 3 hours before your flight. It’ll give you ample time to sort out any form of delay you may encounter. 

3. Locate the check in counters 

How to navigate the airport like a pro involves finding your way to the check in counters. Finding the check-in counters is not hard, as you’ll see displayed signs and logos on the wall and on the counter. After locating the check in counters, stay there until you’re called forward. We also advise that you get a good travel luggage bag that you can easily carry with you since you will have to move around the airport. 

4. Show your ID to the airport officials 

If your luggage needs to be checked, you’ll need to show your ID to the airport official in charge of the checks. The official will then instruct you on what to do. The official can either tell you to take it to a scanner or put it behind the scanner on the conveyor belt. After the checks, you’ll be given a boarding pass if you have not printed it. There are three ways to get your boarding pass, which are: 

  •  from the airline website 
  • Through the airline app
  • Or printing at the airport. 

5. Find your way to security at the departure gate

One of the reasons why many find it hard to find their way around the airport is because there are a lot of checks to be done. One of those checks involves checking the boarding pass and ID by the security. This check will be done by a security official assigned to your departure gate. 

After this, the security will instruct you to get into an X-ray machine. Your bags and every object you’re carrying will also be checked by the metal detector.

6. Wait till You’re instructed to walk to the other side of the conveyor belt

After the X-ray checks, an agent will instruct you to go to the other side of the conveyor belt to pick up your bags and other belongings.

7. Get your gate number 

 Sometimes the airline agent might tell you your gate number or you might find it  in the boarding pass. Alternatively, you can find it on the departure monitors. Finding your gate won’t be hard because you’ll find signs with numbers on them. Get a seat and get ready to board the plane when it’s ready. 

8. Locate your seat in the plane

Now it’s time to board the plane. You’re to locate your assigned seat on the plane and keep your luggage in the overhead bin.
